The 2023 Southwest budget analysis presents the approved government expenditure and revenue projections for the six Southwest states including Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo. The budget analysis shows the
direction of state governments in the region in terms of capital and recurrent expenditure as well as the priority are as that will stimulate the economic growth and development of the states in the region.

Apart from the size, the composition of the budget also reflects the structure of recurrent revenue of the states which includes the internally generated revenue and FAAC allocation. Examining the plausible factors that may aid the implementation of these budgets vis-à-vis their performance within the context of the regional economy will have a long way in strengthening the region’s level of competitiveness in 2023.
