As part of ongoing plans for the actualization of the Western Nigeria Railway Network, connecting 44 towns and cities in the Region, the DG, DAWN Commission, today met with the Director of Railway Engineering and Design of the EEDC, Dr Lawson Mbugguss at his office in London.
Dr. Mbugguss with over 35 years of experience in Rail design and engineering, already has first-hand experience on rail development in Nigeria, having played a major role in the design of red and blue lines under construction in Lagos.
This meeting was a follow up to an initial virtual meeting held last month where the Commission tabled its ideas for the rail network based on the recommendations of experts.
We are pleased to find out that Dr. Mbugguss and his team are already working on delivering a practical proposal for the development of the Western Nigeria rail corridor.
Although there are still further details to be ironed out before the first shovel hits the ground, we remain assured and confident the right path is being followed and an effective rail network across the six states will radically transform the economic fortunes of the Region.
