DAWN Commission joins the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, the Oyomesi, the people of Oyo State and all members of the Yoruba Race in mourning the passing of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III.
Alaafin, who ascended the throne at the youthful age of 31, was a well-respected monarch within Yorubaland and indeed across the country. He was an enthusiastic and energetic ruler who loved his people and contributed his quota to bringing peace and development to Oyo and Nigeria.
Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III was an intellectual giant, widely read and practically at home when discussing topics ranging from history, philosophy, literature, religion and developmental politics.
Iku, until his transition, was mentally alert and you must know your onions when seated in his majestic presence.
They surely do not make them like this anymore, iku is irreplaceable and Yorubaland, indeed Nigeria is the poorer for it. We pray that God grants the Adeyemi family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Rest In Peace Alaafin. Iku Baba Yeye!
