Asiwaju Anthony Ijaola was born on April 27, 1939 in Imeko, Ogun State, Nigeria. He is the Son of Peter Egbedele and Maria Osu-Ajini (Agbaosi) Asiwaju.

78 yr old Prof had his Bachelor with honors degree in History, from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, 1966 and Doctor of Philosophy, University of Ibadan, 1971.
