Rice Production in Western Nigeria

Odu'a GMD Wale Raji, DAWN DG Seye Oyeleye

The Director General of DAWN Commission, Mr. Seye Oyeleye, received in audience the Management Team of the Odu’a Investment Company Limited (OICL), led by the Group Managing Director, Mr. Adewale Raji at the Office of the Commission earlier today.

The DAWN Team held a strategic meeting with the Odu’a Team on the Western “RAPID” Rice Project in the Southwest Region of Nigeria. Western “RAPID”, otherwise known as the “Rice Accelerated Production for Integrated Development”, is a Project of DAWN Commission conceived in 2017 to foster economic development in the Region leveraging the 32m/t per hour rice mill acquired by Lagos State

The Director General of DAWN Commission, Mr. Seye Oyeleye, at the meeting, said the States in the Southwest Region have jointly commissioned 42,000 hectares of land for the production of rice located at Imota, Lagos State.

The Group Managing Director of Odu’a said the Group, as a key investment and economic driver in the Region, is keen to see the success of the project as it will ultimately guarantee rice sufficiency in the Region as well as provide employment for the teeming youths in the Region.
